Frequently Asked Questions
I have a Safe Deposit Box and have lost my key? What do I do?
The Customer Service Representative at the branch where your box is located will be happy in assisting you and ordering a new key. There will be a small service charge and in most cases, a new box will be opened and you will receive two new keys. This is done to avoid the hassle of drilling into the box in the event you lose the second key. Since the bank does not keep any master keys - we cannot get into the box.
I would like to have my family have access to my Safe Deposit Box. Is that possible?
Only family or persons whose names have been entered onto the Safe Deposit Box contract will be allowed to access the Safe Deposit Box. If you wish to have family access your Safe Deposit Box, you will simply be required to include their names on the contract form or add them at the branch at a later time. At any time they would like to access the SDB, they will need to bring a picture ID and the key.
Can I leave my box in trust or will?
No. For federal reasons, Safe Deposit Boxes are not to be entered into trusts or wills.
How safe are the Safe Deposit Boxes?
You have the only 2 keys available for the Safe Deposit Box at River Town Bank. Therefore, they are very safe. River Town Bank employees do not have access to the Boxes and access will not be granted to anyone unless their names are on the agreement and they have the key. The Safe Deposit Boxes are also in a fire resistant vault. They are not FDIC insured nor are the contents insured.

Traveler's Checks
River Town Bank is proud to offer extended products and services to suit your needs. You can get Traveler's Checks from each of our branches.
Traveler's Checks are a form of money used by an individual traveling outside of their immediate area of residence. They are used in place of cash and are accepted around the world. Traveler's checks only require one signature and are available in $20, $50, $100, or $500 denominations and applicable packages.
At the time Traveler's Checks are purchased in the pre-packaged denominations and quantities, the buyer must sign all the checks in the space provided at the top. When the buyer wishes to use one of the checks, he/she fills in the date, the name of the payee, and signs his/her name at the bottom of the check. The checks are only negotiable when countersigned by the buyer at the time of cashing.
Traveler's Checks are serially numbered and the purchaser should keep a record of these numbers for notification in case the checks are lost. If the Traveler's Checks are lost, the customer can report their loss to the nearest River Town Bank office and for assistance with getting them replaced.
River Town Bank offers Traveler's Checks to our customers. They are not available to non-customers. Each branch will have different bundles, however the most common bundles are in 3 x 50 or 5 x 100. River Town Bank does not offer Traveler's Checks in denominations less than $20.
